ACT-02 · Act Maneuver

How do I show up when AI answers "X vs Y" and "alternatives"?

Publish a fair comparison page that names the alternatives, explains which option suits which need and backs its claims with first-hand evidence. Google's guidance on reviews and comparisons asks for exactly that, and one-sided pages are the least useful to readers and engines alike. Build one page per comparison buyers actually ask.

What good comparisons look like, per Google

Compare fairly and say who it suits

Google's review guidance says to explain what makes an option stand out from competitors, note alternatives and identify which option suits particular needs.

Google

Back a 'best' pick with evidence

When you name a top choice, Google says to justify it with first-hand evidence such as your own testing, and to weigh pros and cons from your own research, not only the maker's claims.

Disclose affiliate links

Google says affiliate links should be disclosed and that its spam policies for affiliate pages still apply. Ranked lists should be useful on their own.

02 · The Maneuver

Five steps to a comparison page that earns a place

Do it by hand with these steps, or hand the whole thing to Nova.

  1. Find the comparisons buyers ask

List the "[you] vs [rival]" and "[rival] alternatives" prompts your buyers use, and note which engines lead with a rival.

Nova: finds the vs and alternatives prompts where you are missing.

  2. Choose fair criteria

Pick the factors buyers weigh: price, fit, features, support, limits. Explain why each matters.

Nova: suggests criteria from reviews and buyer questions.

  3. Gather evidence

Use your own testing, screenshots, data and customer examples. Cite the competitor's own public pages for their facts.

Nova: collects public facts and flags anything you cannot back up.

  4. Say who each option suits

State "best for" per option, including where the rival is the better pick. Honest limits build trust.

Nova: drafts a best-for line per option for you to edit.

  5. Publish, disclose and check

Disclose that it is your product and any affiliate links, keep facts current, then re-run the prompts in 30 days.

Nova: re-checks the prompts at 30 days and reports where you now appear.
