Does AI actually know who my company is?
It knows what it can find, and a company that states its name, address, logo and profile links differently in different places is harder to recognise. Google says organisation markup helps it tell your organisation apart from others and understand its details. State your basic facts the same way on your site and profiles, and mark them up on your home page.

What Google says helps it recognise an organisation
Straight from Google's documentation. The other engines have not published equivalent guidance.
Organisation markup tells you apart from others
Google says Organization structured data helps it understand your organisation's details and tell it apart from others. The properties are optional but it recommends including every relevant one, such as name, url, logo and sameAs.
Organization structured dataLink to your other profiles
The sameAs property points to other pages about your organisation, such as social or review profiles. Google also lists identifiers such as tax or VAT IDs that help disambiguate organisations.
Organization structured dataKeep business profiles current
Among its AI features best practices, Google lists keeping Merchant Center and Business Profile information up to date.
AI features and your websiteFive steps to make your company recognisable
Do it by hand with these steps, or hand the whole thing to Nova.
Write down your basic facts
Legal and trading name, website, logo, what you do in one sentence, founding year, location and your main profiles.
Nova: builds this from your site and asks you to confirm it.
Ask the engines who you are
Ask "What is [brand]?" and "Who makes [product]?" in each engine. Record the answers and cited pages.
Nova: asks across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini and saves the sources.
Check consistency
Compare your name, description and links across your site, social profiles, directories and review profiles. Note differences.
Nova: compares your facts across the pages and profiles it can find.
Add organisation markup
On your home page, add Organization markup with your name, url, logo and sameAs links to your real profiles. Keep it matching the page.
Nova: drafts the markup for your approval.
Fix profiles and recheck
Correct profiles that differ, then ask the engines again in a few weeks.
Nova: drafts the corrections and re-checks later.
